The preview tool that visited your site.
If you found SasaronPreview/1.0 in your server logs, that was a small tool of mine. Someone typed your website into the first-look preview on sasaron.com, and it read your homepage to sketch a new design in your colors.
How the preview tool works
What it reads
One ordinary load of your homepage, the same as a browser would make. Then, at most, up to three of your own stylesheets, your web manifest, and your logo file. That is where your colors, fonts, and logo come from.
To sketch the words for the new design, a short excerpt of what your homepage already says (your headings, menu, and a few paragraphs) goes to a language model that runs on Cloudflare, the same company that hosts sasaron.com. The model writes sample copy from it. The tool keeps neither the excerpt nor the copy.
It doesn't open your other pages, fill in forms, try to log in, or follow links.
How it stays light
It follows at most five redirects, reads about a megabyte of your homepage at most, and gives up after about ten seconds. Any one site can be previewed at most three times a minute, counting everyone together. If your site asks visitors to pass a bot check, the tool stops after that first try and doesn't ask again.
What it keeps
Nothing. The colors, details, and sample copy go back to the browser of the person who asked, and they're gone when that page closes. No copy of your site is saved, and the tool's logs don't record which site was read.
Who sees the result
Only the person who typed your address, in their own browser. The preview is meant for business owners looking at their own sites, and it asks them to confirm they own the site or have permission before it runs.
How it names itself
Every request it makes says SasaronPreview/1.0 (+https://sasaron.com/bots; reads one page for a design preview). The requests come from Cloudflare's network.
If you'd rather it didn't
Email me at [email protected] with your domain and I'll add it to the tool's skip list. After that, a preview of your site is answered without loading anything from it. I reply within one business day.
You can also block the name above on your server. The tool treats that like any other refusal and stops.
